Croatia and Spain will meet in the quarter-final of the Davis Cup by Rakuten Finals 2022 in Malaga on 23 November. Both teams are led by an experienced coach, each hunting for that Davis Cup title.

CROATIA

Captain: Vedran Martic

Martic took over as Croatia’s Davis Cup captain in Decembre 2019, taking the reins from Franko Skugor who was in charge of the team during the Davis Cup by Rakuten Finals 2019 after Zeljko Krajan's resignation. An experienced coach, Martic has mentored players including Marin Cilic, Karen Khachanov and Goran Ivanisevic. 

Martic steered the Croatian team all the way to the final at the Davis Cup in 2021.

SPAIN 

Captain: Sergi Bruguera

Bruguera took over as Spain’s Davis Cup captain in October 2017, taking the reins from Conchita Martinez – one of only five women to have captained a Davis Cup team. An experienced coach and player Bruguera took the Roland-Garros title in 1993 and 1994 and reached the final in Paris again in 1997. He represented his country on 10 occasions, including winner a silver medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. 

Under Bruguera’s watchful eye Spain swept to the title in the first new-format Davis Cup by Rakuten Finals in Madrid in 2019.
