Two experienced captains will be watching from the sidelines when Germany takes on Canada in the Davis Cup by Rakuten quarter-finals on 24 November.

GERMANY

Captain: Michael Kohlmann

Michael Kohlmann made six appearances as a player for Germany in the Davis Cup, the most recent being against Belgium in 2007. An experienced doubles player, Kohlmann reached the semi-final of the Australian Open in 2010 alongside Finland’s Jarkko Nieminen. 

He was appointed captain of Germany’s Davis Cup team in 2015, guiding them to the quarter-finals in 2018 and 2019, and the semi-finals in 2021.

CANADA

Captain: Frank Dancevic

As a player, Dancevic reached a career-high ranking of 65 in 2007. He played his first Davis Cup tie in 2002 in a World Group quarter-final and played in 24 ties for his country, finishing with a World Group play-off against Chile, beating both Cristian Garin and Gonzalo Lama. 

Dancevic took over the Canadian captaincy from Martin Laurendeau in 2017, and in 2019 steered his team to the first new-look Davis Cup by Rakuten Finals, losing out in the final to Spain.
