The team

Alexander Zverev, the 2018 ATP Finals champion, is the star of the Germany squad. One of his key team-mates is the veteran and former Wimbledon quarter finalist Philipp Kohlschreiber, and they impressed against Hungary in their qualification tie, both recording two wins in their singles rubbers as they soared to a 5-0 whitewash to secure their place in the Madrid Finals.

Last year, Germany came agonisingly close to a place in the semi-finals for the first time since 2007, narrowly losing a thrilling tie against Spain, who boasted Rafael Nadal in their squad.
